Bespoke Luxury Baby Gift – Hand-Painted Personalised Watercolour Name Picture (14×10 Framed)
- An original, hand-painted watercolour name picture, personalised with your chosen name, colours and theme. Painted in my Devon studio and professionally framed, it makes a special new baby, christening or first birthday gift. Gift wrapping available.
- From £120.00
A personalised name picture is a lovely way to welcome a new baby and create a keepsake to treasure for years to come.
I hand-paint every name picture in my Devon studio, using watercolour, ink and coloured pencil. Each design is created around your chosen name, with illustrated letters filled with details to suit your family and the nursery.
You can choose a theme such as farm animals, woodland creatures, dinosaurs, fairies, flowers, jungle animals or vehicles, or tell me about something completely different. Favourite animals, pets, family details and special little touches can all be included where they work with the design.
About this painting
This 14 × 10 inch framed name picture is suitable for names of up to approximately six letters.
Each letter is individually illustrated, with the design arranged to make the most of the space.
Made especially for you
When you place your order, you can tell me the name, colours, theme and any personal details you'd like me to consider. The more information you give me, the better I can tailor the design to your wishes.
I also send photographs as your painting progresses, so you can see it taking shape. If anything needs a small adjustment, we can discuss it before the finished picture is sent.
These personalised name paintings make lovely gifts for a new baby, baby shower, christening, naming ceremony or first birthday. They are also a popular choice for grandparents and godparents looking for something more personal than an ordinary nursery gift.

Early Sketch Stage
A first glimpse of your child’s name taking shape in pencil — each letter thoughtfully composed before a single brushstroke is laid.
The foundations are drawn by hand, balancing space, story and character, ready for colour to follow.
Ink Detailing – Artist Fineline Pens
Once the design is drawn, I refine selected details with professional artist fineline ink pens. These delicate lines add clarity and gentle structure while preserving the softness of the watercolour.
Tiny features — whiskers, petals, feathers and lettering — are carefully defined, keeping the overall feel light, balanced and timeless.
First Wash of Watercolour
The first light layers of watercolour are added to paper, beginning with any background details. Soft and translucent they build depth with layers of paint
Detail & Character
Fine brushwork brings personality to every element — from tiny whiskers to delicate petals.
At this stage, the smallest details are carefully refined to ensure the finished piece feels alive and individual.
Final Touches
The final layers deepen tone and definition, bringing harmony to the whole composition.
Last touches are added with with coloured art pencils, ensuring every letter sits beautifully within the design.
Before Framing
Your completed painting, photographed in natural light before mounting and framing.
Once approved, it will be mounted and carefully prepared for its new home.
Client Approval
A preview for your approval — I share photographs at key stages so you feel involved in the journey.
If any small adjustments are needed, they can be made before the painting is finished and sent.

Kind Words from Families and Grandparents
Families return time and again for my hand painted name pictures, speaking of the care, craftsmanship and personal service they receive. Many kind words come from proud grandparents and thoughtful godparents, delighted to give a keepsake that feels truly special. You can read their generous reviews below.
Can I choose my own theme?
Absolutely. You may select from popular themes such as farm animals, woodland creatures, fairies, jungle animals or seaside scenes — or suggest something entirely personal to your family. Each painting is designed around your wishes. See some design ideas HERE
Can you include pets, family homes or special details?
Yes. Many families choose to include their house, pets, favourite toys or meaningful details within the design. These small touches make the painting even more personal and unique.
What size should I choose?
As a general guide:
• 12 × 10 inches – Names up to 4 letters
• 14 × 10 inches – Names up to 6 letters
• 16 × 10 inches – Names up to 8 letters
• 20 × 10 inches – Longer names
• 20 × 16 inches – Multi-level or more detailed designs
If you are unsure, advice is always happily given to ensure the painting feels beautifully balanced. Feel free to ask!
Will I see the painting before it is sent?
Yes. Progress photographs are sent during creation so you may see your painting take shape. This ensures you feel confident and delighted before it is carefully wrapped and dispatched.
How is the painting presented?
Each name painting is mounted and framed, ready to hang in the nursery. Mount options include a soft off-white single mount, a coordinating double mount, or a decorated mount that echoes elements from the design. The framed picture is then wrapped in tissue (or can be gift wrapped) . An unframed version is also available if you prefer to get it framed yourself.
Do you really plant a tree with every order?
Yes. For every bespoke baby name painting commissioned, a tree is planted through Ecologi.
It is a small but meaningful way to mark the beginning of a new life. As each painting is created slowly and by hand, it feels only right that something lasting should also be given back. Through Ecologi, trees are planted in carefully managed reforestation projects around the world, helping to restore habitats and support communities.
When you order a handpainted name picture, you are not only welcoming a child with a personal piece of art — you are also planting something that will grow alongside them.
Are your baby name paintings truly handpainted?
Each name painting is mounted and framed, ready to hang in the nursery. Mount options include a soft off-white single mount, a coordinating double mount, or a decorated mount that echoes elements from the design. I do offer a non framed option if you would prefer to have it framed yourself. Mounts and frames
How long does it take?
As each painting is created by hand, time is needed for careful composition and drying between layers. Current timescales are shown at the point of ordering, and updates are provided along the way. Usually it is between 3 and 4 weeks.
What if I change my mind?
If at the progress stage you feel the painting is not right for you, this can be discussed before it is sent. The aim is always for you to be completely happy with your finished piece.
Is this a suitable luxury baby gift?
Yes. A bespoke handpainted name painting makes a meaningful and lasting personalised baby gift for a new baby, christening, naming ceremony or first birthday. It is often chosen by grandparents and godparents seeking something truly special.
Where are the paintings created?
All paintings are designed and handpainted in Devon by Kate Garrett, using traditional watercolour techniques and quality materials.
Can I have my picture gift wrapped?
Yes! Kate is happy to gift wrap your picture and can even send it direct to the recipient with a handwritten note. There is a choice of dusky pink, dusky blue, white or natural with white leaves.
