House & Family Watercolour Portraits

A hand-painted watercolour of your home — the place your story returns to. I paint from photographs in a loose, atmospheric style, and can include family members, pets, and the little details that make it yours.

Houses with People

A painting of a home feels even more alive when the people who belong there are gently included. I can place a family in the foreground — children at the gate, parents in the garden, perhaps a dog trotting close behind. These are not formal portraits, but soft impressions that capture presence and warmth.

Houses on Their Own

Sometimes it is simply the building that holds the story.

A much-loved cottage, a first home, a farmhouse passed down through generations, or a seaside retreat visited every summer. Painted on its own, the architecture and surroundings take centre stage — stonework, climbing roses, hedgerows, weathered gates.

People and Animals

Beyond houses, I can also paint people and animals together in a meaningful setting — perhaps a child with a pony, grandparents walking a beloved dog, or siblings in a favourite garden corner.

Figures are painted with gentle likeness rather than strict realism, keeping the artwork timeless and full of charm.

Wedding Venues

A wedding venue holds a moment in time — vows spoken, confetti falling, doors thrown open in celebration.

I can create a hand-painted watercolour of:

  • Churches and chapels

  • Country houses and manor homes

  • Rustic barns

  • Marquee receptions

  • Seaside or garden venues

Names and wedding dates may be hand-lettered beneath the painting, making it a meaningful first anniversary gift or heirloom keepsake. The building is painted from your photographs, and I can include the bride and groom if desired.

What can I include?

  • Your house, cottage, farm, or holiday home

  • Garden details (trees, flowers, gates, hedges)

  • Family members in the foreground (optional)

  • Pets, ponies, or farm animals

  • Cars, hobbies, favourite toys, meaningful objects

  • A change of season (summer flowers, autumn leaves, snowy roofs)

What photos do you need?

A clear front view is best, plus a couple of angled shots. If you’d like people or pets included, send separate photos of them too, along with a list of who's who.

Can you combine elements from different photos?

Yes — I can build the painting from multiple images so it feels like one complete, natural scene.

Do you paint just the house, without people?

Absolutely. A simple house portrait can be just the building and surroundings, with the same soft, atmospheric feel.

Can you include pets, cars, or hobbies?

Yes — these personal details are very welcome, and often make the painting feel like home. You can send separated photos of the things you would like me to include.

Can you paint our wedding venue?

Yes — I can create a hand painted watercolour of your church, barn, country house or favourite celebration space. From grand manor houses to quiet village chapels, each venue is painted with care and character.

How much does it cost?

House paintings start at £130 for an unframed 14 by 11 painting. Small family groups from £60.
