Cows – Full of Presence & Personality
Cattle have a quiet dignity about them — broad-backed, steady, rooted in the fields they graze. My cow illustrations are painted to be unmistakably true to breed: the sweeping horns of the Highland Cattle, the crisp black-and-white markings of the Holstein Friesian, the warm fawn tones of the Jersey Cattle.
They are recognisable to farmers at a glance, but painted with a gentle lift of character that makes them feel alive rather than studied. Ideal for farmhouse kitchens, dairy offices and thoughtful gifts for cattle breeders, these illustrations celebrate both heritage and heart.
Sheep breeds -
Sheep carry the landscape with them — hill-bred, weathered, quietly watchful. In my sheep illustrations, breed accuracy comes first: the bold face of the Suffolk Sheep, the hardy build of the Herdwick Sheep, the fine features of the Bluefaced Leicester.
But alongside that accuracy sits warmth — textured wool, bright alert eyes, a stance that feels alive rather than posed. They are recognisable to shepherds and breeders, yet inviting enough for family homes and thoughtful shepherd gifts, celebrating British sheep breeds with charm and authenticity.
Horses and Ponies
Ponies are woven deeply into rural life — sturdy, sure-footed and quietly intelligent. My pony illustrations remain faithful to true type: the compact strength of the Shetland Pony, the moorland elegance of the Dartmoor Pony, the soft forelock and steady gaze of the Highland Pony.
While each breed is clearly defined, there is always a touch of personality — a suggestion of spirit, gentleness or quiet resolve. Painted in traditional watercolour, these portraits are as suited to country nurseries as they are to pony owners and rural homes, bringing heritage and warmth together in one recognisable, characterful style.
Pigs – Cheerful & Full of Character
Pigs bring warmth and humour to the yard, and they lend themselves beautifully to character-led illustration. The spotted charm of the Gloucestershire Old Spots, the rich russet coat of the Tamworth Pig, and the distinctive markings of the Berkshire Pig are all painted with careful attention to breed detail.
Each one is instantly recognisable, yet softened with warmth — a slight tilt of the head, a contented expression, a hint of mischief in the eye. These pig illustrations are perfect as rare breed farm gifts, smallholder presents and country kitchen artwork that feels both authentic and light-hearted.
Farmyard Friends – The Heart of the Yard
Every farm has its faithful companions — the keen-eyed Border Collie, a strutting Rhode Island Red, a watchful barn cat keeping quiet order. These illustrations honour their role while allowing their personalities to shine through.
True to form and instantly identifiable, yet softened with gentle humour and expressive detail, this collection captures the everyday characters that give the farm its warmth. Ideal for countryside gift buyers, poultry keepers and dog lovers alike.
Tractors
The tractor is as much a symbol of rural life as hedgerow and gate — steady through sowing and harvest. My tractor illustrations are carefully drawn to reflect authentic shapes and classic detailing, whether inspired by vintage models or well-loved modern machines.
Though mechanical, they are never cold. There is colour, movement and a sense of honest labour in each piece. Painted in my traditional watercolour style, they pair beautifully with farm animal artwork and are especially popular for young tractor enthusiasts, farming families and rural nursery décor.
