What is a Name Painting?
A name painting is a piece of illustrated nursery wall art where each letter of the child’s name is carefully decorated with hand-painted illustrations. These might include animals, flowers, vehicles, countryside scenes or favourite toys.
A personalised nursery name picture makes a charming decoration for a baby’s room and a lasting keepsake as each piece is completely unique to your child.
The Making of a Personalised Name Painting
Each hand-painted name painting is created individually in watercolour, making every picture completely unique.
You are involved in the design process throughout, and will be kept updated with progress
They can be framed in white or wooden frames. The frames are made in the UK and have acrylic 'glass' for safely.
- The paintings are first sketched onto thick watercolour paper using your reference photos of pets/toys etc, and including any items you would like featured.
- The drawings are inked with permanent black ink and then painted with archival quality artists watercolours.
As the final details are added, the picture begins to take on its full character — a personalised piece of artwork created especially for one child.
Made in Devon, the Traditional Way
All baby name pictures are created in my Devon studio, using professional artists watercolour paints, Cotton watercolour paper (made in Somerset), and the same careful techniques I’ve used for many years.
Every piece begins with a blank sheet of paper and is painted individually for you. Names, dates, and details are added by hand, not typed or generated, ensuring no two gifts are ever quite the same.
This is slow craft — the opposite of instant personalisation — and that is exactly what makes it special.

Are your baby gifts made in the UK?
Yes — all original artwork is created in my Devon studio.
Where do you post to?
I send name pictures all over the world from the UK. Please message if you want to check first.
What makes a baby gift “luxury”?
A luxury baby gift is one that is made with care, high-quality materials, and often personalised or handcrafted to create something lasting. My name pictures are all created lovingly in my Devon sudio.
How long does it take?
Because each piece is hand-painted to order, creation time allows for painting, drying, and finishing by hand. Current turnaround times 2-3 weeks plus delivery time.
Can I include pets, toys or other special details in the design?
Yes — rabbits, teddy bears, farm animals, favourite toys or pets can be gently incorporated into the personalised artwork, making it a true reflection of your child’s world.
What is your returns and refund policy?
Since every piece is hand painted to order, refunds aren’t offered simply for change of mind. However, I will keep you update with progress photographs and you receive a preview image before framing so you can check the design, and if a painting arrives damaged, I will replace it. Returns policy here
How are the paintings presented?
Each painting is carefully mounted and framed, ready to hang or gift. I use high-quality mounts chosen to complement the artwork — either a simple off-white that matches the watercolour paper, or a double mount with a coordinating colour to enhance the tones within the painting.
If you prefer to get the painting framed yourself, that option is available too.
If the painting is intended as a gift, it can also be wrapped and sent directly to the recipient, thoughtfully prepared and ready to open.
Can I include a personal message, date or special wording?
Yes — you can have details such as a date of birth, Christening date or special message added below the name in fine ink or watercolour to make the gift even more meaningful.

Absolutely. I can customise colours and design elements to suit your nursery colours, theme or favourite ideas — simply let me know the look and feel you want when you order.
What size options are available for personalised baby name paintings?
You can choose from a selection of sizes listed in the shop, and I can also offer unframed and framed options in bespoke sizes if needed. Frames in the shop come in standard sizes that work beautifully with the artwork
What if I need my gift more quickly than usual?
If you need your personalised gift sooner than our typical 4-5 week creation and delivery time, please contact me. I’ll do my very best to accommodate a quicker turnaround where possible.
Can I have my order gift wrapped or sent directly as a present?
Yes — gift wrap and a special message on a tag can be added for a small extra charge. Packages are tied with classic raffia and presented in traditional coloured kraft papers to suit the occasion.
